WSN Privacy Policy
Version draft-2026-10-06
How World Scuba Network handles the personal data in your WSN membership account.
1. Who is responsible for your data
World Scuba Network ("WSN") is responsible for the personal data in your WSN membership account. [Legal entity name, address and privacy contact to be confirmed.]
This policy covers your WSN account only. Dive shops that use WSN software keep their own customer records under their own privacy policies; see the shop's website for those.
2. What we collect
Account details: name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), city and country.
Optional contact details: mobile number and an emergency contact's name and phone number.
Diving details you choose to give: certification agency, level and year, experience, specialties, interests, travel habits, wetsuit size, gear and insurance status. If you tell us you are an instructor or run a dive business, we also keep the professional answers you give at signup.
Membership and payment records: plan, price, renewal dates and payment status. Card details are collected and held by Stripe, not by WSN.
Technical data: sign-in times, IP address used for security and rate limiting, and records of account changes.
3. How we use it
To create and run your account, take membership payments, send receipts and account emails (such as email confirmation and password resets), keep the service secure, and meet legal obligations.
To tailor what we show you based on the diving details you give.
To send WSN news and offers, but only if you opt in. You can opt out at any time from your account page or any marketing email.
[Legal bases for processing under GDPR/UK GDPR to be confirmed by counsel.]
4. Who we share it with
Service providers that run WSN for us: Supabase (database and authentication hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery) and our website hosting provider. They process data only on our instructions.
We do not share your WSN account details with dive shops or other businesses unless you ask us to, for example as part of a future booking feature that clearly tells you what will be shared.
We do not sell your personal data.
We may disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of WSN, our members or others.
5. International transfers
[Locations of processing and transfer safeguards to be confirmed by counsel.]
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. [Retention periods after account closure to be confirmed.]
7. Your rights
You can see and update most of your details on your account page. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. [Contact method for privacy requests and supervisory-authority details to be confirmed.]
8. Security
We use access controls, encryption in transit and separation between WSN member data and dive shop data. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.
9. Changes to this policy
We will tell you about material changes before they take effect.
